Beautiful Nancy Guild abandoned Hollywood for Dumont's Where Was I ? | TV Guide Chicago, 17-23 April 1953
Nancy Guild is one actress who willingly abandoned a glamorous Hollywood career in favor of a more sedate home life. Now a panel member on DuMont's Where Was I?, Nancy walked out on her movie contract more than a year ago to set up housekeeping for her husband and four-year-old daughter, Elizabeth, in New York.
She's married to Broadway producer Ernest Martin, who did Where's Char- ley? and Guys and Dolls, and is now putting the final touches to Cole Porter's new musical comedy, Can-Can.
A native of Hollywood, Nancy was "discovered" while attending the University of Arizona. A national magazine used her picture and a 20th-Century- Fox talent scout spotted it. A screen test and a five-year Fox contract followed. She reached starring roles, then signed with Universal.
She lives in a penthouse overlooking New York's Central Park, has no financial worries, and enjoys the mental stimulation of television work.
Nancy was a championship swimmer in high school, good enough at 16 to try for the Olympic team. Now she swims only for relaxation on summer week ends.
